In Turning Pictures , the students start from the need to listen and make music. They study sound waves and take a look at the past of sound carriers and the associated music players. As a result, they learn about different transport systems, discover how music can be programmed, both physically and electronically, and how music can be captured and played back.

They learn the differences between analog and digital and investigate different mechanical transmissions and learn to make calculations around speeds. They then investigate how music can be amplified and then design and make a prototype of a record player themselves.

In this project, the students also delve deeper into the storage and transformation of energy and discover the link between music and our DNA. The professions of sound engineer, roadie and mechanic receive the necessary attention.
