Nicolaas Copernicus: From constellations to astronomy
In the second century the Roman Ptolemy wrote a book with a general overview of astrology and astronomy.
For centuries this book has been seen as truth. Looking into space was only possible with the naked eye. Nobody could see how many stars there were. Moreover, the orbits of the planets could be roughly predicted. Everything seemed to match what they saw. However, it was not entirely true.
Nicolaas Copernicus came up with a new idea in the sixteenth century. It became a revolution in science. It would take the universities of Europe a hundred years before the idea was accepted.
